>From Scott Kruitbosch:
3/12 - Stratford yard -- 1 FOX SPARROW, at least 3 BROWN CREEPERS
Other worthy mentions include 2 HERMIT THRUSH and at least 8 GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLETS. The Kinglets were all over the place. It is early, but I haven't
found any Tree Swallows, Phoebes, or early warblers in my normal haunts. The
sparrow species seem to be on the move, with plenty of Song Sparrows and
Chipping Sparrows popping up all over.
Let me add in a species which I've seen a lot more of this season - the
Brown Creeper. I said "at least 3" today because of the fact I saw three
simultaneously, but there were other "single" birds spotted as I walked
around (which may have been moving with me). I always hesitate to make
declarations concerning populations, but I've seen a definite increase.
Whether it's in Stratford yards or at Audubon in Fairfield, I've had a hard
time NOT finding a Brown Creeper. I've even had a couple glances out the
windows at home and found one quite randomly. I can recall periods of years
without seeing one in the yard, and now I'm finding them (and hearing them)
in bunches.
