[CT Birds] A Plea from the Daily Report Compiler

Before I start sounding like a sour old pain, let me start by thanking
all of you who don't do the things mentioned below. I really do
appreciate the effort you make that saves me extra work. But for some
of you....
Most of what I compile into the daily report comes from here on
CTBirds. I have a request for all of you who post your sightings
here.
PLEASE include the town in your reports! I don't know the town that
goes with every birding location. I surely don't know the town of
every birder's yard. Yes, if I spend time searching old messages or
googling the web I can usually figure out where your sighting probably
came from. Frankly, compiling it is more than enough work without
that. I'm sure you all know where you live, and where you bird!
And please include your name! Every post to CTBirds is supposed to
include your name anyway, first and last please. You know your name.
I should not have to search old messages to try to figure it out.
Since I am already ranting, another small point. It is OK to repeat
the information in the Subject in the text of the message. I commonly
have to pick the species, or the town, or the date, from the Subject
because it is nowhere to be found in the body of the message. Not
only is it easier for me as the compiler if it all appears in the
message body, it is easier for everyone reading the message.
And yes, I would love for more people to include sightings in the
standard format. It doesn't have to cramp your style, just add it as
an addendum after you tell your story.
Please?
Thanks for listening, and thanks for all your reports (even the ones
with a few problems.)
Good birding!
