Thanks, Roy, for the reminder, and also for all you do to make it possible to share our sightings.

I find it ENORMOUSLY HELPFUL when people put town and species of interest in the subject line - then I know right away if it is something near me that I might have a chance of seeing that day. Reports of sightings far from my home, or "discussion" topics such as today's fascinating exchange on duck migration I save for later "fun" reading. A message like "Backyard bird" or "Notable sightings" might not get read at all.

On a more positive note - I am so very grateful to all of you who seek out and report interesting birds. I have been able to add several birds to my life list because of your reports to this list. (Finally saw the Pine Grosbeaks I've been wanting to see all winter! Found them in Simsbury las week.)

A personal note: For various reasons, I had a horrible week (spam attack disabled my computers, stolen credit card, broken printer, flu, etc. etc.). By the end of the day today I was a wreck. I went to a favorite spot nearby and spent a calming half hour watching beautiful waterfowl (especially some suavely elegant Hooded Mergansers) feed, preen, rest, fly. Great therapy. I came away restored and refreshed. The beauty of birds is amazing.
