[CT Birds] Mystery Bird clarification

The pic of the black bellied plover I was looking at was on page 153 of my
Nat Geo, showing a juvenile in flight, upper rt hand pic. If the wings were
a little shorter and the back was a little browner, and the head a little
flatter, that would be how this bird looked. 

Thanks to everyone who sent me mail! Your suggestions are helpful, but none
really looks like the bird I saw. On the plus side, after 9 years, I
finally have an E. Screech Owl in my nest box here in Bloomfield.
