[CT Birds] Redpolls - Waterbury

3/15  -  Waterbury, Bunker Hill residence.  --  Flock of approx. 50
REDPOLLS. 
 
 
Noticed the flock only because I saw a reflection of a large bird in my car
window as I was heading out this morning.  When I turned around to have a
look, I saw a Cooper's Hawk in the middle of a flock of about 50 Redpolls,
all friendly like.  Very strange sight.  Anyway, the hawk continued down
over the hill and the Redpolls came back around and over the house but did
not land.  Prior to this, the most Redpolls I have seen in the area this
winter was (12), visiting my thistle feeder during a snow storm.
