[CT Birds] Mystery Bird (Brian Kleinman)

What size was it?  Sparrow (swallow), robin, pigeon, or crow-sized?  What was it's overall color?  Did it have black "arm pits" like a BB Plover or was the black in the wing?

Brian, I considered the sandpipers, but the way this bird was circling over 
the water and gleaning insects just didn't fit the pattern. Body shape was 
also a bit too plump. In shape it was more like a swift, with a tiny fan of 
a tail but none of the swifts or swallows have the correct markings. If you 
look at pics of the black bellied plover with black under the wings, that 
is sort of what it looked like, but as far as I know, plovers don't behave 
this way either.
