3/17 Harwinton. 50+/- Cedar Waxwings and 4 Bluebirds.

Spent an interesting day photographing a couple of flocks of Cedar WW's in Harwinton, CT, where they had previously been reported by Paul Carrier. The Waxwings were eating crabapples from two trees on the embankment in front of a church just up Rt 4 from the interesection with Rt 188. Not previously mentioned though were at least 2 pair of Eastern Bluebirds - possibly 3 pair. There are two boxes - not in particularly good locations - however, I did not actually see the Bluebirds near the boxes but saw them under the two crabapple trees and in the small saplings also growing on the embankment. When I viewed the WW'ws from the church parking lot (had been photographing from across the road on Rt 4) I noted that a few of them also ate some of the bittersweet berries from the entangling vines behind the crabapple trees.

Also drove over to North Road for a short while and had a couple small flocks of WW's at the church on the corner there too. They would come and then fly away as trucks or school buses roared past them. No Bohemians at either location today.

Thanks to Paul Carrier for the initial post.
