3-18-08  -- mid afternoon - birding by car during my lunch hour.

North Madison - approx 30 Rusty Blackbirds continue

Horse Pond -(filling up) 4 Green-winged Teal with other dabblers.

Hammo SP - 
Marsh toward Clinton Harbor - 1 Northern Harrier
Pond to west of main rotary - 1 Canvasback, 6 Hooded Merganser
Marsh to beach side of nature center parking lot and to east of boardwalk - 1 Ame. Bittern

Vernal pools in my area of North Madison quiet.  Although I saw frogs on the move one wet night last week  I have not heard calls at night.  It has been several years since they started this late.  They are often noisy by St. Patrick's Day.  These amphibians have been feasted on in years past by resident Red-Shouldered Hawk, Corvids and others.
