(3)OSPREYS were circling over Falls River in Centerbrook (behind the
post office and across from the elementary school) about 10 minutes ago.
I know I've already listed osprey for this area, but the number and the
location seemed important to me. Three birds up here could indicate a
triumphant (read: bigger) return to the CT River; but circling over
Falls River might indicate a wider territory. Maybe more Ospreys
returning this year and therefore expanded hunting grounds (?) or
perhaps just a different territory for the regulars. Falls River is
fresh water- although I understand that salinity might not matter to
Ospreys; so would ospreys nest here (especially if it is fresh water
that is not as abundant with food as the CT River mouth) if their
population has grown?
