As I was monitoring the Mianus Fishway at noon time today, the immature bald
eagle was observed again fishing for dead Gizzard Shad. This bird has
remained in the area of the Post Road ( US 1) and the Mianus Pond for almost
one week. While fishing, the eagle is frequently harassed by Black Backed
Gulls and American Crows.

As an aside Alewives (river herring) were netted in the fishway for the
first time this year on Thursday March 20th.
