Hello, birders. In Conn. visiting my family for the
weekend. Wanted to check out the shoreline on Sat.
morning.

No Common Black-headed Gull at the Holly Pond area. I
was there from about 6:30 to 7:45 and then a drive-by
at about 8:45. Only a few Bonaparte's Gulls at Holly
Pond amongst the more common ones. I got a tip that
the small gulls hang out in the Shippen point area but
no small gulls were found during a brief check there.

6 Northern Shovelers at Holly Pond. Someone reported
a Blue-winged Teal but I missed it.

1 Snow Bunting at Cove Island Park, great look from
less than 15 ft. away. Group of 29 Horned Grebes, a
nice number.

Other waterbirds: Brant (34), Can. Goose (75+. One
had a neck collar which I will report to the feds),
Mute Swan (19), Gadwall (31), Am. Black Duck (3),
Mallard (14+), Long-tailed Duck (30), Bufflehead
(65+), Com. Goldeneye (9), Hooded Merganser (2),
Red-breasted Merganser (9), R.t. Loon (1), Common Loon
(1) and D.c. Cormorant (1).
-----------------------------------------------
3/22 - 1 Snow Bunting at Cove Island Park, Stamford.
6 No. Shoveler at Holly Pond, Stamford.

Happy Easter,

Scott Baron
Fairfax, Va.
