3/23   New Preston   Lake Waramaug
             1600+ COMMON MERGANSERS (feeding, flying, preening on 
remaining ice -- very active) in gorgeous afternoon light; also 15+ 
ringnecked ducks, 6 goldeneyes, 2 buffleheads,
20 mallards.
            Lakeside (route 109), SW of Bantam Lake:  Soaring adult 
bald eagle over small ponds
              (also ringnecked ducks, blacks, mallards, hooded mergansers)

            Cornwall   Rattlesnake Road Swamp
            4 wood ducks, 6 hooded mergansers, 1 greenwinged teal, 2 
killdeer, 1 Wilson's snipe
             (also mallards, blacks, great blue heron)
