CT Birders,

My Easter present this year was the return of the Tree swallow. He made a few passes by the nest box and then landed in a near by tree to survey the area.

Speaking of owls, sadly one of my volunteers, and fellow CT birder Carole Donagher, picked up yet another dead hit by car screech owl on Mount Vernon rd. This one was a beautiful red - phase. Cars are certainly doing some damage to screech owls around here lately! :(((((

On a brighter note there is a group of 20 or so Cedar Waxwings feeding in Simsbury on Crabapple at a volunteers mother's house. I happily added a stunningly beautiful male to the group today after the bird had sustained significant head trauma and a wing injury. The bird was injured in Bloomfield feeding on crabs in a courtyard surrounded by glass. I did not want to return the bird there for obvious reasons. The beautiful bird fully recovered.

The wood frogs are singing their heads off this afternoon in the warmth of the sun. The entire pond is covered in them! :))) Wonder if they will attract another black crowned night heron!
