[CT Birds] Great Pond Simsbury

Went to Great Pond yesterday to try out my new digital camera. Saw two
gorgeous Hooded Mergansers (M and F) along with some commons. There was
still some ice on the trail and water. Will winter never end?  

I'm also upset because I had a screech owl at last in the nest box I put up
years ago. A squirrel harassed it (I guess it had a prior claim on the box)
and actually caused the box to loosen and rock from side to side. Haven't
seen the owl since. And since I don't have a long enough ladder, it will be
a while before I can get someone to fix the box. Darn squirrel!
