Wow! And the owl never moved?
I've gotten in many nestlings in their nest in bushes, small trees
from nurseries, some which were transported and planted, then
the nest and nestlings were discovered. Imagine the parents'
distress at finding their nestlings and nesting bush gone!

A friend in Rhode Island was helping a neighbor cut an evergreen tree
for Christmas, cut the tree put it on the car - transported it home,
carried it into the house, set it in the tree stand and there is the
tree was a sawwhet owl. They returned to the tree to the original
site with owl in tow.
