CT Birders,

Sunday on my way to the Aqua turf for our annual fundraiser as I drove up the road from my house I caught sight of a turkey vulture perched on a sunny roof presumably warming itself on the chilly morning. First time I have ever seen one a roof and I have to admit it looked kinda silly! :)))

Then pulling out of the Aqua Turf driveway there is a small wooded pond directly across from it. I always scan it and this time it had a duck I did not recognize. There were several ring necked ducks bathing and diving for food. I was thrilled to get this new bird, another life bird for me to tick off.

Whenever I encounter a new species I like to do at least a little bit of reading on it and I immediately learned that diving does not always mean fish! This duck dives for aquatic plants. I found that very interesting as I had not considered diving for plant eaters I guess.

Today I finally had the time to check the bluebird house and there is about an inch of material in there. She must of just gotten started.

Hummingbird & oriole feeders are up!
