A few weeks ago someone inquired about Osprey inland in CT. I'm pleased to
report that yesterday on my way to work I noticed that at least one - of
what last year had been a nesting pair - had returned to their somewhat
unique location, atop one of the light platforms at a HS football field in
central CT. This is only my 2nd yr. teaching there, so I don't know how long
this has occurred. It was neat, though, taking my AP Environmental Science
class last fall to view the Osprey and then on an adjacent platform, a Monk
Parakeet colony; not everyday a teacher gets to cover both a bird of prey
and an invasive species without leaving the school grounds.

Although the Osprey nest is in a conspicuous location, I'm not going to
mention the location here. Send me a direct e-mail and I'll provide
directions if you want to have a look.
