Please see the message below from Lisa Bassani at TPL. They need some ornithological information on a property they are trying to protect near Chapman Mill Pond in Clinton. They need folks who could do some casual bird surveys and also anyone who might be able to provide some general info on historical sightings in the area to help bolster their case. This property is within the large forested region in south-central CT that I call the Cockaponset Triangle, which stretches roughly from Lake Galliard at one corner, to the "Preserve Property" in the East to the Maromas area in Middletown and represents 10,000's of acres land where the forest cover is nearly 80% (but steadily diminishing) and is likely an important migratory corridor and nesting area for forest birds.

"The Trust for Public Land is beginning work to conserve a 144-acre property on the west side of Chapman Mill Pond in Clinton and was hoping to find a volunteer to do bird surveys on the forested property in the coming weeks. The information will be used in applying for state and federal grants for the conservation of the property. Please contact Lisa Bassani at lisa.bassani at tpl.org or 203-777-7367 ext 5 if you are interested."
Thanks, L
