4/4 - Milford, CT Audubon Coastal Center - 6+ COMMON REDPOLLS, 1 imm WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW,
The redpolls are still visiting the nyger feeders here at the Coastal Center. There are more of them early in the morning (7:30-8:30am), but there were still 4 on the feeders at once at lunch time today. The easiest viewing is from the observation tower or inside the windows (which are being replaced this week!!). I noticed a few people last weekend tried to walk around the back of the building, from the parking lot. It's possible to see them from this direction, especially because they tend to come to the feeder attached to my apartment window on the handicap ramp. BUT, they're skittish, so use extra caution.
2 American Oystercatchers were very vocal over the marsh after the rain stopped.
Today's the first day I haven't seen a Northern harrier in about 6 months- now I'll probably have one right out the window when I hit "send."
Good birding,
Ken
