I had written e-mail "thank yous" to the legislators involved with the $4.5
M increase for the DEP . If conclusively passed, will there be an
opportunity to have some of those funds to go directly for purchase of open
space/grasslands etc. for the birds? I have been reading the comments regarding a bird
seed tax and have learned from the many opinions. The Pittman Robertson Act
(way back) did earmark the tax dollars received to go specifically for
wildlife usage. So that was what I was thinking of. I do realize the many
obstacles & pitfalls of such a new tax now. I do contribute to several wildlife &
conservation societies which I feel strongly support what I believe in.
Perhaps, like some of you mentioned, that is the best way to go.
