[CT Birds] Plover name origin

Since I am interested in word derivations, I researched the name "plover."
And yes, it is associated with pluvius, or rain. But in the process I found
a most unusual website. The discussion of the pronunciation of the word
plover was hilarious...but then it got into some very weird stuff, like
folks naming song titles with the word plover in them. You just got to
check this out. It was written by someone who had visited the CT Aubudon
Center at Milford Pt. The site is:
