Hi all,

Shorebird season is upon us and?birders are beginning, once again, to flock to Milford Point along with the birds.?In anticipation of another busy season, we'd like to ask the cooperation of birders on several issues.?There are a very limited number of parking spaces at the?Coastal Center.?To relieve congestion,?we're encouraging carpooling to the site whenever possible, especially on weekends when?the lot can overfill. It's not only great for the environment, but we'd hate to see anyone unable to?find a parking spot.?Parking is not allowed on the street, except for?the residents, so?there's?no place for overflow to go... Please, please?try?to carpool, whenever possible, so everyone can?find a space.? We're also asking fisherman?to do the same during our busy season, from spring through fall.??Also, please drive slowly through the neighborhood.? The speed limit is 25m/hr. ??

We'd also like to remind everyone that shorebirds make long, sometimes arduous, migrations, and need a chance to rest and feed.?Please avoid flushing roosting birds and encourage others to do the same.? Studies have shown that repeated disturbance can negatively?impact?shorebird survivorship.? Let's not love them to death...?

Thanks in?advance,

Frank Gallo

Connecticut Audubon?Coastal Center
