[CT Birds] Quite trilling

No earth shaking sightings to report, but yesterday it was nice to hear juncos, Chipping Sparrow and Pine Warbler all singing from my yard. This is the time of year to practice telling these three trillers apart by ear, as it is the best time of year to have all three singing in one spot (unless you're lucky enough to live near a spot where juncos nest and then you get all summer!). Now I just need singing Swam Sparrows and Worm-eating Warblers to join in to round out the trillers section.

A nice touch this morning were a pair of bluebirds hanging out in the front yard. I've never bothered to put up bluebird boxes thinking this vast wasteland of 1/2 acre lots wouldn't be too conducive to them, but I suppose if you don't use pesticides a suburban yard is perfectly amenable to them. Still would have a hard time keeping out the House Sparrows if I put up a box though.
