I was a bit surprised to not see the Peary Stafford's report (via Olaf S) of Louisiana water thrush on the Rare Bird Alert this AM except to refer folks to CTBirds about the report. Checking Greg Hanisek's "Connecticut Birds by the Season" (The Connecticut Warbler, Jan 2005, Vol 25, No 1) Louisiana water thrushes do arrive in CT this early. I do thing this might be the earliest Louisiana waterthrush has been reported in the Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, CT for some time. Talking to Peary this AM, Peary advised that he heard and saw a pair of Louisiana waterthrush on Thursday in the section of the Steep Rock Preserve here in Washington along River Rd southwest of Washington Depot. This is in area where a breeding pair have been in the past. Roy, I was curious as to why this report did not rate a "full" listing on the Rare Bird Alert?
