The Bohemian Waxwing was very cooperative this morning affording great looks at the usual location (next to the CLAS building on Glenbrook Rd.) to those that showed up. We also had a Belted Kingfisher hunting at Swan Lake. There is a lot of activity in the area today but the birds don't seem to mind much.
A quick trip around Horsebarn Hill Rd. yielded a female American Kestrel, 3 Northern Flickers, 2 Eastern Bluebirds, 3 Wilson's Snipe, and a Red-tailed Hawk.
Highlights along Pumping Station Rd. (UConn - off of Gurleyville Rd. along the Fenton River) produced my first Eastern Towhee, a Ruffed Grouse, and a Pileated Woodpecker.
On Wormwood Hill Rd. on the Mansfield/Ashford town line next to Knowlton Pond there were 2 Palm Warblers and a Pine Warbler.
