Judging by the short time I spent outside, a migration watch would
have been a good idea today.

Wednesday and Thursday nights featured a steady migration to our south
that was largely cut off in northern New Jersey thanks to a weather
front. A low density of birds seemed to trickle through to Connecticut
on each night, but not much. Last night was shaping up to be very
similar until things cleared late, and there was a small influx of
nocturnal migrants that did reach our state (more than the two prior
nights).

The following were deemed to be migrating.

Milford Point, 11am-noon (moving SW to NE along the barrier beach):
1 Common Loon
29 Double-crested Cormorants
1 Great Cormorant (flying with the DCs)
6 Green-winged Teal
3 Greater Yellowlegs
2 American Kestrels
2 Tree Swallows
1 Northern Rough-winged Swallow
1 CHIMNEY SWIFT

Orange yard, 215pm-245pm (moving due north):
69 Double-crested Cormorants
11 Herring Gulls
10 Ring-billed Gulls
1 Greater Yellowlegs
1 American Kestrel
1 Cooper's Hawk
1 Tree Swallow
