4/13 at Harkness State Park mid-afternoon here are the highlights:
13+ COMMON SNIPE ( wet field in between Harkness and Camp Harkness)
3 KESTREL -- near the snipe location (2 m. and 1 f. -- female was pumping and
fanning her tail for several minutes while there was 1 male patiently
observing in the same tree and another male in a nearby tree)
3 common loon, of which at least 2 were in breeding plumage
150+ brant geese, with more flying in constantly
4 osprey calling and circling over the same field where I was observing the
snipe.
2 killdeer
2 barn swallows
8 red-breasted mergansers
1 double-crested cormorant flying over
Also, on my way both to and fro HSP on Gardner Rd (opposite the Little League
fields) were 3 turkeys. I also saw 1 great egret flying over Jordan Cove.
