At the back of my house I have a small pond that connects to a wetlands
area that goes through Old Wethersfield next to the railroad tracks.
Mostly the residents are Canada Goose, Mute Swan, Mallard, Great Blue
Heron, and Belted Kingfisher, with the resident gulls from the Cove
stopping by also. Green Heron and Wood Duck may deign to grace it once
in a great while. Occasionally different things pitch up there. Last
month I had Common Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, and Ring-billed Ducks.
Today I had a Pied-Billed Grebe show up, the first one I've ever seen
there.
I had a male and female PURPLE FINCH pair at Cedar Hill Cemetery on
Saturday, along with 2 Pine Warblers and 4 Palm Warblers.
