I just walked past the CLAS building, the entrance along the bus road not the one next to the pond, and saw at least 6 Bohemian waxwings feeding in the crabapple tree right next to the door. I phoned a few people, who each responded, "rusty undertail coverts right?" I lived for awhile in Northern Minnesota and used to have flocks of 200 show up in my yard to clean out all fruit-bearing trees. I understand any doubters but, I know what they look like and am confident in what I saw. They were feeding with a group that didn't have more than 18 waxwings total, including Bohemians. I doubt I was more than 20 feet from the tree and they weren't at all bothered by my standing there counting them.

If you want to see them head there soon.

I stopped by briefly at 5:45pm and didn't see it then either. At noon a couple from D.C. was hoping to see the bird and it could definitely still be around. On Friday I watched it sitting in a tree by Swan Lake for 45 minutes so I could easily have hit a lull in the action. If anyone did see it post here please as there seems to be continued interest.> > Steve> > Steve Morytko> 288 Varga Rd.> Ashford, CT 06278 USA> smorytko at yahoo.com> > _______________________________________________> This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut. > For subscription information visit http://lists.ctbirding.org/mailman/listinfo/ctbirds_lists.ctbirding.org
