[CT Birds] Fish Crow at Uconn Depot Campus, Storrs

Amazingly, as I was watching the bohemian waxwings on my way home tonight, I too had a fish crow fly overhead calling. Adding to Phil's note and Kevin Burgio's observations of fish crows on campus recently (which I think were reported on the NOS list, but not on CTbirds), it appears that they have finally found UConn this year. Five years ago I think there were no records in the Storrs area, but over the past couple of years they have become regular in Willimantic, so this extension north is perhaps not too surprising.
Other recent sightings included blue-gray gnatcatcher, several palm warblers and ruby-crowned kinglet in the Eagleville preserve on Sunday. Osprey, sharp-shinned hawk and Cooper's hawk moving north over Eagleville, also on Sunday. There are now chipping sparrows calling on campus. And today an adult (or near adult - it was too far off to age properly) bald eagle over the Mansfield library, which is close to Mansfield Hollow SP where Don Morgan also had an eagle today.

Today around 3:10 PM, I both heard and saw a single Fish Crow flying over Columbia Cottage at the Depot Campus of UConn. A quick check of Birds of Storrs doesn't even have a reference for Fish Crow. This spring there has been an increase of inland sighting of Fish Crow in CT, however I don't remember any sighting for northeast CT.
