[CT Birds] Birds only Please. RE: Fwd: The Gratitude Symbol!!

Roy asked me to help out with the list while he is gone.

Just a reminder that CTBirds' sole function is to provide a forum for the discussion of Connecticut Birds.  Anything to do with birds or birding in CT is fair game.  Sure, there are discussions about bird habitat in which birds are hardly mentioned, and the occasional general environmental discussion, or even occasional posts about world or national issues related to birds or bird habitat, or even a post here or there about associated non-avian wildlife sightings; all of which are probably fair game.  Outside of that, no matter how important an issue or just a cause may be, this is not the appropriate venue for discussion.

As we move towards a heated election season, it might also be a good rule to not discuss political candidates except as related to discussion of candidates positions on issues directly impacting CT Birds or habitats.  COA is a 501 c(3), and any inkling that the resources of the organization are utilized to endorse or oppose a political candidate could jeopardize tax exempt status.  Posts by individuals related to pending legislation or government policies would not jeopardize this status, although representatives of other NGOs, should probably keep track of their 'lobbying/grassroots" activities for their own organization's tax records.
