What a wonderful morning to be afield. I was working on my Ellington list for the spring census that Hartford Audubon runs each year. There was 1 female hooded merganser in a small pond ( I think my first in Ellington) a broad-wing hawk and 1 American kestrel. On Snipsic Lake, Ellington side, I saw a ring-billed gull with a wing tag. The tag was chartreuse in color and round (2-2.5 "diam.) with the designation A4. Anyone have any idea what is with that? I had a N. rough-winged swallow, hermit thrush and 1 BROWN THRASHER on Abbot Rd and a pair of EASTERN TOWHEE on Green Rd. The field sparrows are certainly in also.
