There were nice numbers of Yellow-rumped Warblers this morning at
Veteran's Park in Bridgeport, with a few other species mixed in.
Sadly, a good chunk of the habitat has been destroyed to make room
for, you guessed it, a ball field. This is very disappointing, as
Veteran's Park serves as an oasis for neotropical migrants in a very
developed city. They picked one of the 'birdiest' sections of the park
to destroy.

Last night's winds went east earlier and stronger than initially
forecast. This seemed to knock down some birds and push others to our
west. The radar just before sunrise showed the bulk of activity in CT
in the western half of the state, and much more activity further west
into NY state.

Highlights from 0650 to 0830:
1 Eastern Kingbird
2 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
1 Hermit Thrush
3 Blue-headed Vireos
2 Warbling Vireos
1 Black-throated Green Warbler
3 Black-and-white Warblers
65 Yellow-rumped Warblers
2 Palm Warblers
2 Yellow Warblers
1 Nashville Warbler
1 Louisiana Waterthrush
2 Eastern Towhee
9 White-throated Sparrows
2 Swamp Sparrows

Then in the marsh at Milford Point at low tide were:
11 Green-winged Teal
1 American Wigeon
4 Black-bellied Plovers
1 Short-billed Dowitcher
2 Willet
6 Greater Yellowlegs
2 Lesser Yellowlegs
220 Dunlin
4 Least Sandpiper
1 Northern Harrier
