My class, who I have been teaching at Pomaraug High School in Southbury, and I went to Bent of the River for our bird walk. No much going on there yet.

  Bluegray Gnatcatcher,
  Palm Warbler,
5 Louisiana Waterthrushes but we did not see one! But, boy can they sing!!
  Field Sparrow,
  Ruby-crowned Kinglet,
  Eastern Bluebird,
  Tree and Barn Swallows,
  Belted Kingfishers,
  Eastern Phoebe,
  etc.

I met Donna, of Audubon and who was doing the birding by ear today, and we both heard very loud drumming and a short call that sounded like the Pileated Woodpecker in the meadow where the Prarie Warbler nests. She called it, but, it wasn't enough information for me. She also had a Wood Duck further up the river and the Black-throated Green Warbler reported by Patrick.
