>From Tim Antanaitis:
4/27 - South Windsor, Newberry Road, Station 43 -- a KING RAIL was calling
loudly when I arrived at the marsh at about 6:50 pm and continued to call for the
next hour. Also 2 VIRGINIA RAILS, 3 WILSON'S SNIPE, 2 AMERICAN
WOODCOCK, & 1 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW.
I got some horrible photos and an audio clip of the King Rail, which I will post the
link to shortly. Since it was so late, I thought I'd call a few people who are
frequent Station 43 visitors and who could have been there in time to see/hear it.
I called Paul Desjardins to tell him about this awesome bird and he said, "You're
not gonna believe this, but I heard it calling earlier in the day." That's how
frequent of a visitor he is! So credit Paul for finding it first. He was a little upset
that I actually saw it. Rick Macsuga, I called you twice, but it was busy both
times. There were a few others whose phone numbers I don't have, so I hope it
sticks around. If it's calling tomorrow like it was today there is no need to use a
tape.
