Yesterday, April 28th, while driving down rt 63 in Goshen, I spotted 2 ducks ahead in the rain walking around in the middle of the rd. As I got closer, they were a pair of Wood ducks. As I drove past - slowly - they didn't move away, but continued to pick up EARTH WORMS from the road. A strange behavior, but one of opportunity presented to them from the wet asphalt which gave the worms no escape.
Also: I am still seeing a pair of Pine Siskin singing and displaying in the yard. I know of one other sighting on this site who is also seeing Siskins to date. Can all who see them post here periodically so we might know if any attempt to nest here in CT?
And Bob from Pomfret seems to have a pair of YB Sapsuckers in his yard that might be a pair. Can you also report here Bob as to their doings in your part of the State? I believe they have never been documented as nesting in the NE corner of the State. Thanks -
