[CT Birds] birding by radio?

Folks,
I was working in West Haven today in a company truck. When I went to leave
that location and head to the next, I started the truck and turned on NPR.
The President's news conference was on. I could hear song sparrows singing
and thought it was odd that they were singing in West Haven's pouring rain.
When I started driving, I realized that the bird's songs were coming through
the radio. I wondered how this could be so...is there an open window in the
press room? Are the walls paper thin? Was there an open mic outside?
After the new conference was over, they gave the answer...the news
conference was held outside in the Rose Garden.
Sounds like 1600 Penn. Ave has a lot of good song sparrow habitat.
Thanks,
JT
