What a difference a day - and a weather front - makes! Many birds I have
been seeing gone, and many new 1s for the year.
Mansfield Hollow off Rt 89 (Turnip Meadow):
2 Veerys (FOY)
1 Wood Thrush (FOY)
1 Eastern Towhee
1 Baltimore Oriole (FOY)
2 Warbling Vireos (FOL)
1 Great Blue Heron
1 Little Blue Heron
NO WARBLERS of any kind (I have been seeing Yellow-rumped, Palm and
Black-and-white regularly here)
Mansfield Hollow Field Trial Area:
MANY Baltimore Orioles (I stopped counting at about 10 but the trees were
full of them - even at the parking lot. I didn't see or hear 1 yesterday)
EVEN MORE Pine Warblers (I walked through an area of piney woods near the
lake and they were calling from every tree. Easily more than 20 there.)
4 Blue winged Warblers FOY. I'm sure there were more - I didn't look very
hard.
1 Yellow-rump (No Palm or Black-and-white)
1 Warbling Vireo
1 male Scarlet Tanager FOY
1 Indigo Bunting FOY
1 Eastern Towhee
1 Brown Thrasher FOY
1 Wood Thrush
1 Veery
NO Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
Eagleville Preserve:
3 Black-and-white Warblers
2 Palm Warblers (yes, still there)
6+ Yellow-rumps
1 Louisiana Waterthrush
2 American Redstarts FOY (more heard).
4 Yellow Warblers
1 Flycatcher sp. appeared to be an Eastern Wood Pee-wee FOY
