[CT Birds] 256 Species to Date in CT for 2008

256 Species Reported to Date (5/5/08) for 2008 in CT. As promised yesterday
(and after a grueling day of protecting my parental rights in court today)
here is the follow-up post that brings the year list up to date. The
following species have been added during May as of this posting;
Least Tern. Ed and Pat Howland reported (via Steve Spector) 2 Least Terns at
Long Beach/Pleasure Island on April 27 (Reported May 1).
Red-eyed Vireo. Kathy Clark, Anita Shaffer, & Roy Zartarian reported the
first 5/2/08 in Newington.
Semipalmated Sandpiper. Meredith Sampson tallied the first with 2 at
Greenwich Point.
Chestnut-sided Warbler. Bill Banks spotted one in New Haven on 5/3/08.
Black-throated Blue Warbler. Christopher Lovell reports the first in
Trumbull on 5/3/08.
Cerulean Warbler. Hank Golet found 3 in different spots at Pleasant Valley
in Lyme on 5/308.
Hooded Warbler. Hank Golet turns up the first one for 2008 in Lyme on
5/3/08. This is a truly beautiful species IMHO.
Bobolink. Jerry Connolly Spotted one in Madison on 5/3/08.
Common Yellowthroat. Donna-Rose Smith gets the first on 5/3 in Southbury.
Blackburnian Warbler. Donna-Rose Smith gets the first on 5/3 in Woodbury.
Black Tern. Patrice Favreau spotted 1 in South Windsor on 5/3/08.
Tennessee Warbler. Dori Sosensky and Lynn James tallied the first 1 in New
Haven on 5/4/08.
Indigo Bunting. Dana Campbell gets the first for the year in Glastonbury.
Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow. John Ogren just tallied CT's 2008 first Old
Saybrook today 5/5/08.
