[CT Birds] Hammock River

Following up on Ron's email, the Hammock River marshes have, by far, the highest density of nesting seaside sparrows in Connecticut. It is probably the most important site in the state for this species. It is the only place in the state where seasides are as common (or more so) than sharp-taileds. Last year, however, water levels were consistently very high and nesting success there was dismal. My understanding (could be wrong) is that this is because one of the tide gates was broken, resulting in more water flow than normal.
