Tonight is a key opportunity for Stratford residents to stand up in support of Long Beach West being included in the Stewart B. McKinney NWR. Even if you have testified before, this is the one that really counts. Please see below for more details:

LONG BEACH WEST PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY JULY 24, 2008.
The Stratford Town Council has scheduled a public hearing pursuant to a state law requirement for Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Stratford Town Hall (may be moved to the High School auditorium across the street). Only Stratford residents will be allowed to speak, but anyone can attend and show support.

There are over 200 comments posted, most of which are against the idea of a sale and many of which are pro-development. We still have a lot of work to do if this is ever going to happen. Thanks to those of you who may have posted in support of this.

Unfortunately, they don't have a link to Andrew French's great letter that appeared in the Sunday edition of the Post. Andrew is the project leader for the Conte and McKinney NWRs.

Sincerely,

Patrick
