After leaving Lighthouse Point Monday 10/6, I stopped at East Shore Park just to the north, and found the place hopping with warblers and other birds. A half hour stroll along the north edge to the harbor, as well as along a couple rows of locust trees resulted in an average of about 3+ birds per every tree. One of those amazing days where you don't know where to look!
Summary:
100+ yellow-rumped warblers
30 palm warblers
15 blackpoll warblers
2 Nashville warblers
3 r.c. kinglets
10 catbirds
50 white-throated sparrows
lots song, savannah
large flocks of blue jays headed north almost continuously: 2000
Did not notice any swallows by the sewage plant.
20 Laughing gulls on the beach sandbar.
