[CT Birds] birding hammo

1/6  - Madison -- 12:30 PM  Hammo Sate Park
2 Iceland Gull - together in cove off rocky beach at start of Moraine Trail to the north of Miegs Point - both juvenile- one was pale and one was dark.

Also seen 
  a.. 1 Belted Kingfisher in position"A" on top of sign post in marsh creek to north (left) after entry gate.
  b.. 60 Horned Larks in West Beach parking lot
  c.. 2 Marsh Hawk
Lunch break drive-through birding.  No Crossbill or Siskin in pines observed. Goldeneye around jetty all appear Common. 

1/3 - Madison - AM  Hammo State Park
  a.. 4 (poss. 5) N Harrier - (including 1 grey ghost)
  b.. SS Hawk -  at Pequot campground.
  c.. RL Hawk - light phase - top of a juniper 
  d.. RB Nuthatch in West Beach pines
No Crossbills or YB Chat while I was there. 
Good raptor activity, possibly helped by trail clearing/invasive plant removal activities by volunteers on Willard's Island that might have  got some prey species moving.
