[CT Birds] crossbills and ice

Meyer Rd in Torrington, in White spruce trees -

With the ice still on most trees out here, esp in higher elevations, the food crop is much more difficult to get at. The Crossbills were feeding on the lower branches of the trees where the ice was mostly absent.
I noticed 4 Robins within a multaflora rose bush which was fully ice encased just perched within as if waiting for it to melt. Surely not soon up here.
