e. a small rocky island just northwest of Falkner Island in Guilford. Formerly more than just a pile of rocks but erosion has taken its toll.

Subject: [CT Birds] Goose Island and then some
Hi Folks
I was reading Sage Bishop and Bliss and ran across this observation.
Common Loon Summer Records." July 24 1882, Goose Island , Long Island
Sound one pair (L. B. B.)"
Where is this Goose Island Ct.? I googled.
A. Norwalk, part of the Stewart B. Mckinney National Wildlife Refuge
B. Stratford, A small island in the Housatonic River North of Nells
Island
C. Old Lyme. in the Connecticut River.just north of the Baldwin Bridge.
D. All of the above.
Also it is a Micro-brewery located in Wrigleyville Chicago ill.
In the mean time I ran across an article about Goose Island Norwalk
in the New York Times Published July 17 1871
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?
res=9A07E4D7103EEE34BC4F52DFB166838A669FDE
The short of the matter is:
A fish oil works was built on Goose Island Norwalk, and locals
complained and took them to court.
The owners said the Islands were in New York and that Connecticut
had no jurisdiction.
The question of jurisdiction went to the US. Supreme Court.
Historical authorities says New York gets to the middle of Long
Island Sound. "While Connecticut extends but a few miles beyond the
shore just outside all the islands except for Falkner's Island , thus
leaving a space of neutral ground between the two jurisdictions which
is under no government whatsoever, except so far as the United States
claims authority over it. "
Interesting Stuff
P. S. I'm still not sure which Goose Island it is (I'm assuming Old
Lyme)
