from Angela Dimmitt
2/21 New Milford yard - ADVICE NEEDED! Last night I had a new "bird" on a
squirrel-proof suet feeder - an opossum. How it got there I don't know. But
just how do you get an opossum to leave its feast? Naturally it played dead
- I approached it, I yelled at it, I shone a flashlight in its face, I
prodded it with a stick - it played dead, not even a baring of its teeth, nothing,
just played dead. After I left it, it resumed eating and nothing would stop
it until it had had its fill. Quite a large fill. Any suggestions? A
tazer maybe? Or let the poor little guy (or gal - how do you sex a furry critter
wrapped around your suet?) just get on with it (which of course I did).
