This message is about a strange duck I saw in new york. I know this is the connecticut bird list, but I need to know something.
Today I went to the Bronx Zoo in New York and I passed a pond that held many suprises. There were a bunch of ruddy ducks swimming around as well as canvasbacks, mallards, common goldeneyes, a hooded merganser, and 2 tundra swans. There was also a strange pair of ducks that I could not identify. Later, looking at my pictures, I figured out it was a Ferruginous Duck!!!!!!!!! I am absouletly positive. The plumage is exact for the male and female. Are these ducks common vagrants around here, or was this a domestic bird? It was swimming around with all wild ducks. I have no idea how to know! Thanks!
