[CT Birds] A Freak Downy Woodpecker

I didn't post this earlier - busy time of year and I didn't want to keep
flooding the list over a minor issue - but I used my brain for half a second
and confirmed discoloration is from the nest cavity.
What did I do? I looked out the window long enough to see a yellow Hairy of
both sexes. I feel silly for not thinking of it before. I saw them
simultaneously as well. Funny looking couple. It is a bit tougher than usual
to distinguish between them because of the discoloration, too. They're
actually getting to be an even deeper shade of yellow. I am sure this is due
to more trips in and out of the cavity.
I am still surprised I never saw this little phenomenon previously. I'm 23,
okay, but I've been staring at these yard birds in this neighborhood for my
entire life. I hope little yellow stained Hairys stop by soon.
