Audubon is working with the Yale School of Forestry, The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, UCONN and the Connecticut DEP Division of Forestry on a project to assess forest ecosystem health in the Bantam and Shepaug River Watersheds in Litchfield and surrounding towns.

As part of the project we need to gather information on the breeding birds at 40 standardized forest plots in June to correlate with other environmental data that are being collected. This part of the state has some very high diversity of nesting birds because it is located at the terminus of three different avian ecoregions (Appalachian, Northern New England and Southern New England), so you never know what surprises you will uncover. If you might be interested in exploring this part of the state and helping out with an important research project, please get in touch with Donna Rose Smith and Ben Oko at: drsmith006 at sbcglobal.net benoko at comcast.net

Thank you very much for your consideration!

Sincerely,

Patrick
