[CT Birds] King Eider question

I have a question about the Hammo King Eider.  Let's assume for a moment
that he stays all summer and into the fall...will we get to see him moult
into full adult male breeding plumage?  Or is the King Eider one of those
species where you've got to have a certain amount of hormone flow for that
to happen, and one of the indications that a bird doesn't have that hormone
flow is if it lacks the drive to go north to its breeding grounds?
